Plan, Start and Build

As one of the stem students of NNCHS, I decided to choose Provincial Engineering Office of Compostela Valley as my immersion place.
January 28, 2018, my first day of immersion seemed to be a simple day. In the morning, I attended the immersion orientation for all students who will be immersing in the Provincial Capitol of Compostela Valley. All the inputs were prepared and explained well by our guest speaker, Mrs. Dinah Lynn I. Basco. The discussions were all about on how to deal with the environment of the working place. Officials were also introduced and the dos and don'ts were also emphasized.

In the afternoon, we were endorsed to the different departments of the place like Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Provincial Accounting Office (PACCO), Provincial Government Office-Tourism and Provincial Engineering Office (PEO). I was asked by my teacher to be with them for some interview with Engineer Roderick Digamon, Provincial Engineer. During the discussion, my files were presented for formal endorsement. There were queries asked by Engr. Digamon. He then advised us to come back tomorrow for they will still with his staffs on how to cope and give us activities that would fit to our learning competencies given. They told us they can assure to give the best experiences that are worth to keep. I feel so excited and happy that they will really give their best to give us what we need. I am also very grateful to the warm welcome of all the employees of the Province to all of us. I was motivated to really pursue my career in college in just seeing those employees do their interesting works. During that time, I cannot wait to face the world of working.
These are all the things I have experienced during my first day of work.

Yes! We're Ready!, Yes! Yes! Yes! We're Ready!

As to the Department of Education, Immersion, 80 hours of working is a requirement for all the Grade 12 students before graduation. Thus, orientations and formal gatherings should be done.
Last January 5, 2018, a Pre-Immersion orientation and Send-off Ceremony of Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School Integrated Senior High School were attended by all the Grade 12 students who are qualified for Immersion.
The pre-orientation program conducted was an overview and deepened discussion of the work immersion process. I am thankful that the school’s initiative went well. I am now aware of the dos and donts when applying a job. I will always be grateful to all the staff of NNCHS for molding me and giving their very best to give me the best education I need.
As a Grade 12 student, I am excited for the 10-day training in the establishment I wanted to be immersed in. Immersion will be a great help to me for this will enhance my skills, grow my knowledge and let me be exposed to the environment I intend to take up in college. It is an honor, as a pioneering graduate of K-12 curriculum, to attend this ceremony.
At exactly 12:00 noon, the Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School gymnasium welcomes all the parents of the apprentices. I was happy that the parents were still able to attend the program on a Friday even though they had some important things to do at home or at work. It was really overwhelming that the faculty of Senior High School made their very best just to explain the inputs and outputs of this training. Seeing my mother come along with other parents gave me mixed emotions. I was very happy and touched by my mother's simple effort which meant a lot to me. For me, the most awaited part of the ceremony was the candle lighting of the students; it is a symbol of letting us students go beyond our academic ability and apply the things we have learned inside the school to our workplace. The light of the candle served as a light of the future; together with our supportive and loving parents, we will have a brighter path as we travel the real world. The gym was also filled with tears and hugs, a sign of students’ grateful appreciation and love to their parents. Everyone is now ready to show that the soon to be graduates of Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School Integrated Senior High School were already equipped in the field of working.
The success of the ceremony was with the combined effort and participation of all the students and teachers. It was indeed a memorable event of becoming a globally competitive individual of the community.

Saulogon ta! Simballay Festival!

"Simba! Simballay! Simballay!", the chant of every Nabunturanon as they celebrate the annual Simballay Festival held every December showcasing the culture of the Municipality of Nabunturan in Compostela Valley. Being a resident of the place, I have witnessed how this festival presented the togetherness and thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest of each barangay; it has never dissapointed and ceased to amaze me. Every year, the festival evolves together with the technology and modern art.

The festivity higlights the booth (bahay-kubo) making of the 28 barangays. The booths were made of indigenous (nipa hut and bamboos) and recyclable materials. Other activities were  conducted to add spice and flavor. With the modern art, this festival integrated installation art through the arrays of umbrellas placed between the competing booths of competing barangays. I was amazed that the Simballay had really improved; the number of visitors and spectators proved it.

My experience during the festival was an unforgettable one. Everyday, I go home early so I can finish the household chores early and be able to go with my friends at night. It was such a wonderful experience seeing how the municipality displayed its foundations of becoming a progressive place. One of the activities was Recyclo model, a competition where the participants created dresses out of bottles and other recyclable materials. It's overwhelming that this festival enchances the creativity and initiative of the people, and discovers and develops innate talents. Choral competitions were conducted and I was happy hearing voices singing Christmas songs. One of the awaited activities of the event was the Garbo ng Nabunturan. It showcased the singing talent of Nabunturanon and gave the winner an opportunity to represent the municipality in the Grabo ng Compostela Valley. The venue was filled with melodic voices and cheers from supporters. I encountered some of the participants and knew that they are among the best singers and performers. I had my own bet on who should win the contest, and fortunately, ate Ferry, my choice, won the Garbo. The activity went well. On the last day of the celebration was the "Iwag sa Kadalanan". The road was covered with lights for delight, dances of grace and sounds of lively music. Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School slayed everyone in its performance and was proclaimed again as champion plus two minor awards.

Simballay Festival must be visited so watch out for the Simballay Festival 2018. I can assure you that you will experience one of the best feelings ever.
